It was a great night with around 200 guests in total.
The KCC having gone through renovations to add a traditional tea room in historical architectural setting, added a peculiar awe to a largely contemporary exhibit. As with previous receptions, the guests were greeted with some wonderful artworks on show, mouth watering finger foods and friendly staff.
The night opened with the coordinator Cathie Kim as the MC, addressing the crowd to begin with, then Mr Sinyoung An - Director of KCC gave his welcome speech. This was followed by Prof. Colin Rhodes' commentary regarding the selected artworks in which he articulated that his role as a judge was getting more difficult as the award gained its age. He pointed out that the quality and standard was becoming higher and higher not to mention the entry numbers growing exponentially each year.
Then the winner for the Highly Commended prize was awarded by Mr Peter Lee - Director of Korean Herald and it was given to
Susanna Chen Chow 'Working Harbour' (Highly Commended)
A short introductory video clip of established and renown artist Salvatore Zofrea was played who is the new judge in this art award's judging panel.
This was followed with the presentation of 2nd prize winner awarded by Mr Sinyoung An and it was given to artist
Hyun-Hee Lee 'Infinity' (2nd Prize)
The MC then went on to invite the Chairman of KAAF, Mr Douglas Park - Director of Proudex Pharmaceuticals Australia who gave his official speech addressing the guests. It was followed straight after with the 1st prize award in which with honour went to
Geoff Harvey 'Burnt Landscape' (Winner)
The night was concluded with abundant positive feedback with many artists anticipating for the next round of competition. It was obvious just by looking at the crowd that was present that KAAF is well on the right path of continuously achieving their motive, of enhancing and fostering a multicultural society through visual art. It was truly a memorable night!
