Entry Call for KAAF Arts Foundation Prize 2013

The Korea-Australia Arts Foundation (KAAF) invites artists to submit entries for its inaugural Arts Foundation Prize.

The Korea-Australian Arts Foundation Prize (KAAFP) will be conducted annually in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Office (KCO), run by the Korean government. Selected artworks will be exhibited at the KCO in Sydney.

The KAAFP for 2013 will be open themed and through medium of paint. The KAAF Arts Foundation Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $6,500 for visual artists.

 

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

 

Eligibility

  1. The prize is open to all Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents of at least 12 months.
  2.  Candidates must be 18 years or older to be eligible.

 

Entry Fee

  1. There is a non-refundable fee of $40 per entry. Entries without this fee will be ineligible.
  2. Payment may be made by cheque or money order, payable to: Korea-Australia Arts Foundation. Receipts will be emailed upon request.

Entry Requirements

  1. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and fee of $40 per image .
  2. Artists must submit a Curriculum Vitae (maximum one page) detailing the artist’s professional practice and exhibition history.
  3. Submissions must be works executed no earlier than October 2013.
  4. A maximum of two digital images can be entered via email or on CD to postal Address of Korea-Australia Arts Foundation:

  6. Slides, photographs, photocopied reproductions, or any other representation of works dated previously will not be accepted. Digital images should be no larger than 2.5MB, saved as JPEG files that must be able to be opened on a standard PC.
  7. JPEG images that are saved on CD should adhere to the following naming convention: Surname _ First name _ Title.
  8. A print ready digital image will be used for promotional purposes for the KCO in the future.
  9. Works may not exceed 1.5 metres in any given dimension (including frame). Multiple parts are acceptable, but must not exceed overall size limits.
  10. All works selected must be sent with hanging fixtures attached and must be marked clearly on the back with the artist’s name, address and title of work. If required, special hanging fittings and fixtures must be supplied with clear instructions.
  11. It is intended that the works selected by the judges will be shown in an exhibition at the KCO: 255 Elizabeth Street, Sydney NSW 2000.
  12. The KAAF and KCO will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered to any painting whilst in its possession or under its control.
  13. Paintings will not be insured by the KAAF or KCO.
  14. The KCO will not be responsible for the sale of works.
  15. All entries selected for exhibition must be available for continuous display at the KCO for the entire period of the exhibition. Artists and/or representatives may not remove any artwork from display prior to 29th January 2014.
  16. Artists selected for exhibition will allow their works to be reproduced in print and electronic formats for the purpose of advertising and promoting the prize and the exhibition.
  17. The KAAF reserves the right to reproduce the winning entry in relation to the prize, to be used for advertising, brochures etc.
  18. All personal information gathered by the KAAF will be used solely for the purpose of administering the KAAF Arts Foundation Prize.
  19. Artists will not be notified of preselection outcome before 11th October 2013.
  20. The selected artists will be notified by either email or letter by latest 15th October 2013.

 

Delivery of Artworks

Selected artworks must be delivered to:

Unit 8C, 443 West Botany Street, Rockdale NSW 2216

Receipt of works will only be available for 2 days, 18th November and 19th November 2013, between 10am-5pm.

 

Return of Works

At the close of the exhibition on the 29th January 2014, our freight forwarding company will return all artworks from KCO to their depot in Rockdale. Works may be collected over 2 days, 3rd February and 4th February 2014, between 10am-5pm from Pumyang International Freight Services. Artists or their representatives must present ID upon collection of their works. Uncollected artworks will only be held for 2 weeks unless other arrangements are made prior to those dates. All exhibitors will be responsible for the transport of their work from the Pumyang International Freight Services.

 

Sale of Artworks

Exhibiting artists are invited to price their work for sale. The KAAF takes a 30% commission. Tax matters will be looked upon later.
