MICHELLE ZUCCOLO

The Hallway
Oil on Italian canvas 70 x 80cm $3500
Featuring a profile view of my daughter in an antique mirror, this painting provides a snapshot of a hallway. The taxidermy fox and pheasant reference Australia’s Colonial past. Unfortunately, these introduced species now roam wild in parts of the Australian landscape. High concentrations of foxes are detected in Melbourne and Sydney, where they are regarded as a significant pest. The pheasant and fox are the innocent victims of our past endeavours but are celebrated in “The Hallway” as magnificent creatures showcasing stunning colours in their fur coat and plumage.
