I paint the urban landscape, but I often escape the city with a predawn trek in the Royal National Park to fish on a rocky point at Burning Palms. The catch is secondary to the restorative power of nature, which comes through the journey, and the elemental clash between earth, air, water and fire. This coastal grandeur is painted on an equally rugged and precious piece of handmade paper, inherited from my studio partner. My empty bucket always returns full.
